Setting Sail: Introducing MagiTech Frontier
Setting Sail: Introducing MagiTech Frontier
Welcome to the first devlog for MagiTech Frontier, a corsair RPG where arcane magic and industrial science collide on a procedurally generated hex world.
What Is MagiTech Frontier?
You are a corsair captain. You sail between ports trading, raiding, and navigating faction politics. You eat exotic food and monster meat to permanently grow your attributes. You claim land anywhere on the hex map and build a home base staffed by residents who work while you’re at sea. You worship gods for divine boons, accumulate corruption from ether-dense dungeons, and eventually retire — your final career score judged against legendary corsair history.
If we had to pitch it in one line: Elin × Sid Meier’s Pirates! × RimWorld.
The Three Loops
Every session weaves between three scales of play:
- Micro (minutes): Turn-based combat, cooking for stat gains, dungeon crawling, fishing, worship at altars
- Mid (hours): Sailing the hex world, port visits, ship encounters, crew morale management, expedition reckonings
- Macro (sessions): Base building, resident management, policy setting, passive income, aging, and retirement
Each loop feeds the others. The food you find in dungeons fuels attribute growth. The gold from trading funds your base. The base generates passive income while you’re at sea. And the whole thing ends when your captain retires — or is forced to.
What’s Built So Far
We’re deep into development with most core systems playable:
- 250+ items across weapons, armor, consumables, resources, and tools
- 55 skills across 8 categories with the food-based progression system
- 33 building types with 3-tier upgrades for base building
- 9 ship classes from nimble pinnaces to imposing war galleons
- 31 dungeon templates with procedural generation
- Full port service suite: taverns, merchants, governors, dockmasters, cartographers
What’s Next
Our immediate priorities:
- Quest system content — the framework is built, but we need quest definition assets
- Interactive naval combat — currently auto-resolved, planning full tactical mode
- World map HUD — food days, morale state, wind direction indicators
- More monsters — expanding from 3 to 15+ for dungeon variety
The Companion Game: The Harbormaster
We’re also building a browser-based companion game where you manage a port settlement on the shared hex world. Build structures, assign residents, set trade policies, and earn gold when corsair captains visit your port. More details coming soon.
